The Significance of Rokuhira’s Legacy and Chihiro’s Talent in Kagurabachi Chapter 65
Dora NaletilićShare
Hokazono graced us with another Kagurabachi chapter, and it is so entertaining. In chapter 65, titled 'Imitate,' we learn many things about Chihiro and his father, Kunishige Rokuhira, the sole reason why his son sought out revenge. Quite a few lore drops appeared in this part of the story, which is only getting better with new content.
Kuguri Wants to Fight Chihiro (Really Badly)
In the previous chapter, we saw an epic fight between Chihiro and Kuguri, the member of the Hishaku clan, who is strangely obsessed with martial arts, especially sword fighting. He constantly pestered Chihiro about his lack of swordsmanship skill, especially because of the fact that Chihiro possesses Enten, an Enchanted Blade. This chapter continues in the same way, but not without Chihiro casting a special skill—Iai White Purity Style.
Kuguri immediately notices that skill and recognizes it as something Samura and Uruha were masters of—it's an extremely hard art that only a few people knew of. Moreover, White Purity Style is legendary as well and at the brink of extinction, making Kugura realize that Chihiro was able to learn it due to his 'keen' Rokuhira eye. The Hishaku member is baffled, but as he's in disbelief, Chihiro escapes with the rest of the Masumi clan with Samura's daughter, making him fail the mission.
Also, remember that Hishaku lady that we thought was dead? She's very alive, and her name is Toto—potentially another cool character in the Kagurabachi universe.

Chihiro and Masumi Hide Samura's Daughter
While Kuguri and Toto try to think where their enemies have left, the Masumi clan and Chihiro arrive at the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel, the safe place for… mercenaries? Nevertheless, the 'gang' arrives at the hotel, which is very unique—the building is surrounded by a barrier that ensures privacy from any outside detection. Everyone settles at the salon, and Iori uses that time to meet her rescuers. We finally learn the names of Masumi clan members—the leader is named Ro, and the tall guy is named Moku, and the female member is Sumi, whom we met in the previous chapter.
Iori recognizes Chihiro from TV, where there were reports of a Kabuki show incident. Ro tries to deflect, but Chihiro goes on and blatantly says to Iori that yes, he is a killer. Iori is terrified while the rest of the Masumi clan tries to calm down the poor girl. Ro takes the topic somewhere else and talks about Iori's situation—she's starting to remember Mr. Samura. Subconsciously, Iori's body is remembering her father, which isn't ideal due to Ro's promise to Samura; the man wants his daughter to stay away from the conflict. Ro proposes the 'cure' for all of her problems—he'll make her forget everything in 24 hours and let her back to her normal life. However, Chihiro makes a move that will potentially change the course of the whole ordeal.
Iori Wants to Know the Truth and Chihiro Is There to Provide It
Iori doesn't like the fact that Ro wants her to forget things because she wants to know who the mystery man she's been dreaming about is. She feels like she's forgetting something important, and Chihiro truly empathizes with her. Ro still insists that it's better for her to not know who that man is due to him putting her in danger. While Iori tries harder to remember, Chihiro remembers his own life with Kunishige—if he had never lived with him, he would probably lead a normal life, even go to school like normal kids. He would never be covered in wounds and scars, but in the end, he would never trade memories of his father and times he spent with him.
Chihiro then asks Ro if the hotel is safe from enemies even if Iori's seal breaks and she remembers. The leader confirms the theory but still insists on the remembering part of the plan. However, Chihiro decides to let Iori know what is really going on, and if she doesn't like it, she can decide on her own if she wants to keep her memories or forget about her father. He vows to Iori he will protect her and learn a legendary technique, White Purity Style, in 24 hours.
Conclusion: Chihiro is the Genius and Worthy Heir of the Rokuhira Family
This chapter was truly amazing. Not only due to action or deeper lore, but also because of amazing explorations of the characters, especially Chihiro. Hokazono deeply investigates his titular character, who is maturing and opening even more to the readers of Kagurabachi. There are questions of Rokuhira's legacy and Chihiro's genius, which is definitely confirmed now, knowing he can learn really fast or simply imitate other skillful warriors.
It will be interesting to see how Hokazono will approach Chihiro's gift of bladesmithing, due to confirmation that Kunishige had such a good eye in crafting the Enchanted Blades and making them unique and powerful. Iori's decision about Samura puts many things on unbalanced terrain, making the tension of this series even higher than before. For sure, this story saga is triumphal in showcasing how one simple story can become incredibly complex and interesting.
