Can Sarada Shine as a Top Shinobi in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?

We already discussed Sarada Uchiha's journey in the Boruto series, and we concluded that her story hasn't been properly explored and that she has a huge potential that would especially shine in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series. For now, we only saw her potential romantic feelings for Boruto Uzumaki, and recently, we finally saw her in a battle, where she showcased what she can do in a fight. Will Sarada reach her potential as a top shinobi?

Sarada Is Still an Unexplored Character

With the arrival of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, many fans were excited by the plot twist and potential fight between Boruto and Kawaki that was teased with the first chapter of the previous series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Since that moment, almost ten years ago, fans have been expecting this moment to happen, but first, they had to go through a whole journey before the pinnacle moment. Sarada Uchiha is part of that story as well, and one of her biggest flaws as a character, as is the case with most of Kishimoto's female characters, is shallow purpose and stereotypical love-starved women who are only chasing boys. Now, Sarada was never outright that bad a character—she had solid foundations.

She was an heir to the Uchiha family and a daughter of a legendary and strong shinobi, and it seems that she never fulfilled that potential. Sarada is presented to fans as an insanely talented shinobi with the potential to be better than her parents, Sasuke and Sakura, but besides a few fights where she partially showcased her skills, Sarada never truly won a hard fight in her life. There were instances where she did so against Cho Cho during the Chunin exams, fighting against powerful enemies, but she was never the one who led the fight. Boruto and Kawaki did that many times during the series, but as an Uchiha heir and a daughter of one of the most powerful shinobi the world has ever seen, that was never enough. As with most female characters, Sarada was exposed to the same old 'damsel in distress' issue.

Will She Finally Reach Top Shinobi Tier?

Now, in the new series, we learn that after the time skip, Sarada and very few people in Konoha know the real truth behind Kawaki's conspiracy. She knows Boruto has been set up and tries to help him to expose the truth and save the whole Ninja World. Unfortunately, the whole potential love triangle between her, Sumire, and Boruto has been hinted at in previous chapters, although it seems that Boruto prefers his childhood friend. Overall, her character usage is below satisfactory for one of the main and important characters in the series.

In the most recent chapters, Sarada and Mitsuki are part of a very important mission, in which they need to defeat some of the shinjus and save their fellow shinobi and help Boruto on the way. We saw her use Fireball jutsu and Chidori, which are iconic Uchiha jutsus, but we're still waiting for her Mangekyō Sharingan, which she awakened when Eida swapped everyone's memories, in her anguish for Boruto, which is quite rare, but we're yet to see her actually use it. She'll definitely use it at some point in the story, and hopefully, she uses this powerful dojutsu.

Conclusion: Recent Chapter (Hopefully) a Starting Point

Maybe the most recent chapter is a starting point of Sarada's development as a powerful shinobi. Frankly, we've been waiting for that moment for years. Sarada's skill is very much needed in the battle against shinjus, who are literal gods who have not yet fully developed. If Kishimoto once again puts everything on Boruto and Kawaki to defeat shinobi, Sarada will never fully reach or showcase her potential as a shinobi, which will lead to her being wasted as a character. Hopefully, Kishimoto abstains from making Boruto and Kawaki mirrors of Naruto and Sasuke because that story is already told—it's time for more refreshing writing decisions that will make this series even better than the original one in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Of course, making Sarada Uchiha a worthy heir to one of the most iconic shinobi clans in Ninja World.
