Samura’s True Realm Shines as Hiruhiko’s Destruction Fails in Kagurabachi Chapter 77

Chapter 77 of Kagurabachi, titled "No Longer Relevant," is an absolute game changer. It dives straight into the battle between Seiichi Samura and Hiruhiko. After Hiruhiko unleashed the second move of the Kumeyuri Enchanted Blade, "Play," to control corpses and attack, Samura rises again, burning away his opponent’s tricks with the power of Suzaku’s flames.

A Look at the Phoenix Legend

In the previous chapter of Kagurabachi, we saw the power of the Enchanted sword Tobimune, Hiruhiko showcasing his unpredictable powers, and Samura showcasing why he is one of the best sword masters in the realm. In the newest chapter of this incredibly tense story, the chapter opens with a beautiful scene at an art museum, where a painter, Kanryuu Yoshida, speaks about the Vermillion Bird, Suzaku — a phoenix reborn from its ashes. Kanryuu’s painting captures this powerful moment, hinting at what’s to come for Samura in battle.

Meanwhile, Samura, though still blinded, regains his strength during the epic battle. His flames not only heal but can now launch devastating attacks. Together with Chihiro, who counters illusions using his Nishiki, Samura confronts Hiruhiko head-on. Hiruhiko quickly realizes that his "Banquet" ability will no longer work against them.

Hiruhiko’s Twisted Mind and the Limits of Play

A flashback reveals Hiruhiko’s dark past, highlighting how the "Play" ability demands respect for the objects it controls — something Hiruhiko completely lacks. His contempt for life ironically allows him to unlock an unprecedented True Realm ability. While his potential is vast, Hiruhiko is clinically insane.

In a dramatic turn of the fight, Samura flies out of the collapsing hotel with jet-black wings. As Hiruhiko chases, Samura unleashes evolved flames — now called the "Flames of Universal Mercy." These flames not only protect Samura but restore the entire destroyed building in an instant. Crushed by the restoration of the building and the collapse of his plans, Hiruhiko breaks down, wounded and defeated. Missing an arm and overwhelmed, he realizes that he has lost completely. The chapter ends with Chihiro preparing to confront Samura. With Hiruhiko out of the picture, a new showdown is about to ignite.

Conclusion: Chihiro vs. Samura: A New Battle Begins

Takeru Hokazono once again showcased his incredible artwork that transfers that incredibly "cinematic" feel of this popular manga series. Kagurabachi Chapter 77 was a thrilling display of Seiichi Samura’s true power. His mastery over Suzaku’s flames shattered Hiruhiko’s twisted ambitions and revealed the full glory of the "Flames of Universal Mercy." Though Hiruhiko’s chaotic True Realm briefly shook the battlefield, he stood no chance against Samura’s evolved strength. Now, the focus shifts to the much-anticipated clash between Chihiro and Samura, setting the stage for an even bigger showdown ahead.
