Countdown to 2025: Ranking Most Anticipated Anime

The year of 2024 was full of absolutely amazing titles, and it brought us new adaptations like Dandadan and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End that instantly got accolades among the critics and fans. Of course, the end of the year announced the release of many great anime in the upcoming 2025, which will hopefully provide us with spectacular projects and great content.

Fire Force (Season 3): Not Your Usual Firefighting Anime

Fire Force is a shōnen series that mixes dark and science fantasy in the best possible ways, and it infatuated fans in its first episode. The story follows youth with pyrokinetic abilities, who join the firefighting squad to stop pyro monsters threatening Tokyo and its citizens. Recently, the third and final season of the series was announced by David Production, which will be released in two cours: first in April of 2025, second in January of 2026. Something to look forward to in the new year.

Sakamoto Days

A debutant on this list is an adaptation of a very popular manga series created by Yuto Suzuki, and it follows a retired hitman who is trying to live a peaceful life with his family. However, old life comes back to haunt him, and the former enemies come back to seek revenge. Sakamoto Days is an entertaining shōnen series that will definitely bring a great audience with its anime release in January of next year.

Dr. Stone: Science Future (Season 4)

Another shōnen series on this list is a very well-known and popular anime series, Dr. Stone: Science Future, which will end with its fourth season in 2025. The series follows Senku Ishigami, a scientific genius who plans to rebuild all of humanity after it mysteriously petrified, very similarly to our dinosaurs. The fourth and final season will be aired in three cours, starting from January 2025.

Solo Leveling (Season 2)

One of the most popular South Korean anime in recent years, Solo Leveling positively surprised many anime fans with its action fantasy, monster-slaying, and dungeon themes. The story is set in the world where people fight monsters in dungeons for money to stop their home from a certain annihilation. The main protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, is one of the weakest warriors who suddenly becomes one of the strongest ones due to a special computer program called 'System.' Very similar to RPG, Solo Leveling is one of the most hyped releases in the new year, specifically in January of 2025.

Kaiju No. 8 (Season 2)

One of the coolest monster-based anime series in recent years, Kaiju No. 8, became one of the fan favorites in 2024 for its cool scientific and fantasy themes. It follows the story of Kafka Hibino, whose life drastically changes after ingesting a parasitic creature that allows him to turn into a 'kaiju.' However, that only complicates things for Kafka, who works for an organization that's trying to destroy these mythic monsters after the promise he made to his childhood friend. The cliffhanger in the first season definitely left a lot of fans on the edge, and the 2025 release will definitely make many of them happy.

The Apothecary Diaries (Season 2)

One of the pleasant surprises of 2024 was The Apothecary Diaries, an anime that is definitely worth mentioning among the best series released in the ongoing year. The story is set in imperial China, and it tells the story of Mamao, a daughter of an apothecary who was kidnapped and taken to the emperor's palace. The anime closely follows the main heroine, who becomes a food taster, 'a detective,' and a very complex and intriguing character. The second season of this interesting series will be released in January of 2025.

Wind Breaker (Season 2) 

An anime television series that was produced by CloverWorks, Wind Breaker impressed many shōnen fans with its incredible fighting scenes, solid plot, and strong protagonist. The story follows Haruka Sakura, an outcast who cannot find his place in the world. He enrolls in Furin High School, where strength is valued more than education, motivating him to be the best. Sakura eventually meets a group of future classmates who help him in a brawl and together form a group named Bofurin, tasked to protect the town from danger. The journey of Haruka Sakura will continue in April of 2025

My Hero Academia: Final Season

One of the most successful manga and anime series of the 2010s, My Hero Academia will get its final season in 2025. The journey of our heroes will finally end after eight seasons, with some fans releasing a sigh of relief while others feeling sad their decade-long show will end. Izuku will end his story sometime in 2025, and until then you can rewatch or simply pick up this mega-popular series.
