Dandadan: Will Evil Eye Stay Sealed Within Jiji?
Dora NaletilićShare
Jiji's story in Dandadan is one of the most compelling stories in the series. The character who was introduced as this funny and silly himbo quickly became heavily impacted by the evil, murderous yokai, which he managed to keep at bay for a very long time. However, the latest arc is slowly but surely getting to its conclusion, and Jiji's behavior is getting more unstable due to many different reasons. Does that mean that he'll lose Evil Eye?
Jiji Still Has Evil Eye Inside of Him
One of the coolest characters in Dandadan is definitely Jiji. At first glance, he's a typical jock in high school who attracts many girls, but he's absolutely more than that. Jiji is a wholesome himbo who is very outgoing and wants to help and protect his friends more than anyone. His journey from his debut in the Dandadan series has been really satisfactory to see, and due to his situation with the evil yokai, Evil Eye, Jiji has always been a bit volatile.
The whole Evil Eye arc in the beginning of the series sees Jiji struggling to contain the powerful evil spirit who wants to kill everyone and take over the world, but after the fight with Okarun and the promise he will exclusively attack him, Evil Eye has been settled. Although he struggled a lot to keep him at bay, Jiji managed to contain him, especially after sealing the 'special underwear' that gave the yokai powers. Much time has passed since that moment, and now, in the current saga, we're witnessing quite unstable behavior from Jiji, who's been heavily affected by Momo's situation.

Unstable Emotions are Affecting Jiji
The current storyline in the Dandadan manga, titled 'Pygmies arc,' is close to reaching a very much awaited peak. Namely, we see the consequence of Momo being trapped in the cursed box during the 'Danmanra' story arc, during which she 'shrunk' into fairy size, well, Momo. Jiji is heavily affected by this since he has feelings for Momo until that moment, for a very long time, and blames himself for not being able to protect his friend.
This leads to very emotional outbursts from the jock, especially when Zuma arrives and tries to contact Momo. Jiji immediately sees him as a threat and even momentarily turns into Evil Eye, which is quite dangerous in public in front of everyone. After Seiko finds a cure for Momo's condition and Class Rep is potentially in danger, the group needs to split up, with Jiji staying with Momo. Now, since we're in the middle of the Dandadan break, there are many speculations about what will happen to each character, and Jiji potentially will be in the middle of the inevitable break. Specifically, he will finally be rejected by Momo due to her feelings for Okarun, which could lead to Jiji leaving Evil Eye.
Conclusion: Will Jiji Lose Evil Eye?
All plot points lead to Jiji finally fully confessing to Momo, who will reject him due to her feelings for Okarun. Tatsu heavily hinted at that happening, even with Aira and her feelings for Okarun. The 'Pygmies arc' will be the one who will confirm the Momo and Okarun pairing, and besides the inevitable broken hearts, there is a huge possibility that Jiji will lose Evil Eye.
That won't happen out of nowhere since the big battle needs to occur at the end of the story arc, and there is a feeling that Evil Eye will leave his host, like Turbo Granny left Okarun. The situations are different, but the broken heart of a teenager and already documented unstable emotions have to lead to Jiji either losing Evil Eye in the battle or something happening to him. Nevertheless, we will soon find out since Tatsu's break will soon end—we cannot wait for the new Dandadan chapter.
