Incredible Character Development of Kuoki Yukishiro in Dandadan
Dora NaletilićShare
Yukinobu Tatsu created some of the most iconic shōnen characters to date. Not just the main cast, but ones that we met along the length of Dandadan, which is only getting better with each new chapter. The most recent development propelled one recurring character into stardom with her actions, and that is Kuoki Yukishiro.
Character That Fans Wanted To Be Killed Off
When Kuoki Yukishiro was first introduced in Dandadan, many fans immediately disliked her. As a pawn of the manipulative Murakami, she was willing to go along with his twisted schemes, including stealing Momo Ayase’s powers using a Kozuka knife. Her initial actions painted her as an antagonist, and for a time, she seemed irredeemable. Many readers wanted her to be taken out of the story—whether by getting defeated in battle or even outright killed off.
However, Dandadan is known for its complex character development, and Kuoki’s arc is one of the best examples of this. As the story progressed, we learned that she was a victim herself, blackmailed and manipulated by her gym teacher Murakami. The pressure, combined with the fear of public humiliation, pushed her into doing terrible things. But rather than being written off as just another villain, Kuoki was given the chance to grow.

Her Connection to Aira Propelled Her Character
Aira and Kuoki's story has been one of the best parts of 'Pygmies' story arc. They weren’t always just friends—they used to be rivals when they were younger. Kuoki’s talent for music made her stand out, and even though Aira acted cold toward her, it wasn’t out of dislike. Aira had wanted to play music too, but what really drew her in was how effortlessly Kuoki did it. Kuoki’s passion for the piano was everything, and Aira never forgot that.
That’s why, when the moment comes, Aira pushes Kuoki to play again. She reminds her of the love she once had for music, urging her to use it as a way to fight back and save them. In a way, it’s like Your Lie in April—Aira reignites that spark in Kuoki, making their bond stronger than ever.
Kuoki isn’t alone—her friends stand with her, ready for whatever comes next. Amid the chaos, Aira steps up, proving once again why she’s one of Dandadan’s coolest characters. She’s come so far, and in this moment, she shows it. With no hesitation, she unleashes her signature kick, making sure Murakami pays—not just for revenge, but for her friends.
Conclusion: Another Character Potentially Added to the Main Cast
Kuoki Yukishiro’s character development has been remarkable. Tatsu once again played with fans’ emotions—making them initially dislike Kuoki, only to pull them into loving her and wanting her in the main cast. She has major potential, especially with her deep bond and history with Aira, making their relationship one of the most interesting ones in Dandadan. Her title, The Lord of Flies, perfectly matches her powers, but what truly makes her stand out is her courage. She doesn’t just fight supernatural threats—she takes a stand against vile people like Murakami, who thrive on others’ suffering.
Kuoki will likely join the main cast, and as this part of the story wraps up, hopefully, we’ll shift focus to another duo—Kinta and Okarun—as they take on Bully-san and his cursed self.
