Kagurabachi Fans Can Rejoice: CygamesPictures to Work on the Anime!

Takeru Hokazono's Kagurabachi has been a revelation in the manga sphere. It's a solid but excellent storyline with unflappable characters that put this manga series in the 'popular tier' quite fast among the fans. We got confirmation last year that Kagurabachi will get an anime adaptation in the next year or so, and today, we finally found out which studio will be responsible for the animation project!

Studio Cygames Will Be in Charge of Kagurabachi Anime!

Kagurabachi fans got their confirmation today that Cygames will be in charge of the long-awaited Kagurabachi anime adaptation. The confirmation came from Toyo Keizai, one of the first journalists who broke the news of the Kagurabachi anime adaptation, and last month, he talked about this potential project and cooperation. The animation studio that will adapt this hit shōnen series is CygamesPictures.

The animation studio did previous work on multiple projects—Princess Connect! Re:Dive, Brave Bang Braver! and Blade Runner Black Out 2022. Moreover, it seems that besides Kagurabachi, the studio has more notable works scheduled during this year—two very successful manga series, Apocalypse Hotel and The Summer Hikaru Died.

The aforementioned projects were more or less successful among its fans, but what really can assure the fans of Kagurabachi is the style of animation. Recently, many debates on animation quality resurfaced this year with the release of Sakamoto Days, Blue Lock, and Solo Leveling, but looking at the projects CygamesPictures worked on, the fans don't have to worry about that aspect of the upcoming animation series. Nevertheless, it's cool to see speculation being confirmed today, especially since there is a good track record of the animation studio that is CygamesPictures.

The Anime Adaptation Was Announced Last Year

The anime adaptation of Kagurabachi was teased throughout the summer of 2024, but heightened sale numbers of manga volumes and the series' success finally confirmed the rumor that Kagurabachi will get its adaptation in the next few years. We never got the exact date of the anime release, but due to Cygames Pictures having other projects on board this year, it seems that the beginning of 2026 is more likely. The Kagurabachi anime will start its production, meaning that the release is coming around the end of 2026 or Spring 2027.

The Kagurabachi series follows young Chihiro, who dedicates his days to rigorous training under the guidance of his renowned swordsmith father, aspiring to one day become a master craftsman himself. The lighthearted father and his earnest son believed these peaceful days would endure indefinitely. However, their world is abruptly shattered by a tragic, bloodstained event. Now, with vengeance as his sole purpose, Chihiro and his blade are bound by a relentless pursuit of retribution.
