Love Shipwreck in Dandadan: Possible Heartbreaks for Jiji and Aira?

We've already written about the love rectangle that has been going on in the Dandadan series. Of course, the one between Momo, Ken, Jiji, and Aira. Tatsu never overly put groups' feelings in the center point of the story, but he did hint or add context to each character in certain situations. Jiji loves Momo, Aira loves Okarun, and Momo and Okarun love each other. What will Tatsu do with these four?

Jiji's Love for Momo Goes Way Back

Now, the anime fans of Dandadan know Jiji as the goofy guy on whom Momo had a crush when they were little. They've fallen apart after Jiji made fun of Momo and her 'spiritual rituals,' and eventually he moved away with his parents. When they reunite, Momo is visibly nervous and even showcases some mannerisms of a girl who might have feelings for Jiji. However, that quickly proves to be false, since we witness the amazing bond Momo and Okarun develop between each other.

Manga fans know this the best since they followed the 'main pair' from the beginning until the most recent 182nd chapter. Jiji kind of fell behind, despite Momo and Okarun never truly being together. His love grew for Momo, but Momo's and Okarun's love grew even further for each other, making this situation quite complicated. Jiji did confess his feelings for Momo, which she kind of left floating in the air between them, but Jiji also doesn't know that Okarun confessed to Momo, who will most likely fully reciprocate.

Aira Wants Okarun Since He Saved Her

Aira has been in love with Ken since the moment he saved her. She feels indebted to him, but she also developed deep feelings for him. Aira was never shy about her feelings for Ken, and she even forcefully kissed him, which the boy (and the fans) didn't appreciate at all. She openly confessed multiple times, mostly through her wanting to work with him, but with being in better terms with Momo, Aira started being more subtle about her feelings for the occult boy.

Recent problems for Momo made Aira and Jiji guilty, and they're trying their best to help her. However, what Aira doesn't know is that the ultimate heartbreak will occur sooner than later. She stayed with Ken to help their friends, and she's quite happy that she will work closely with Okarun. However, it seems that Tatsu is preparing her for Okarun's ultimate and soft rejection, which will finally confirm the pairing of Momo and Okarun.

Momo and Okarun Love Each Other From the Moment They Met

Finally, there is a possibility that Tatsu will finally make Momo and Okarun official. With the confession from Ken during the great battle, in previous story arc, Momo obviously feels the same and makes sure that Ken should wait when everything feels peaceful so they can finally make the last step towards their romance. They loved each other since the moment they met, and Tatsu was never shy to confirm that notion from the very beginning of the series.

The recent separation of the group will see Momo and Okarun with Jiji and Aira alone, to whom they will deliver bad news and deal a hit to their fragile hearts. Yukinobu Tatsu will finally make Momo and Okarun closer to each other and confirm their love after so many chapters of fans waiting, while Jiji and Aira will have to deal with the aftermath.

Conclusion: Jiji and Aira Are Set for Disappointment

It seems a bit rude to analyze Jiji and Aira this way, but they were always there to prove Momo and Okarun as the romantic pairing. In other series', we would see writers creating love triangles or more, simply for the drama, but Tatsu never did that. He did hint at the 'love rectangle' we've already spoken about but never to bring tensions to group dynamics. In the end, Momo, Okarun, Jiji, and Aira are friends, and after the former pair finally confess to each other, the latter pair will move on without too much drama.

Which is, of course, a huge hope—Tatsu made sure we as readers believe he'll do the right thing.
