MAPPA Unveils New Trailer for Lazarus Anime!

One of the most anticipated animation projects of the year is the upcoming anime series Lazarus, created and directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, the legend behind another incredible anime title, Cowboy Bebop. The series will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in April and will stream the next day on the Max streaming platform. A very well-known MAPPA studio just unveiled a new trailer for Lazarus!

Trailer Showcases Unique Animation of the Series

Fans of the life and work of Shinichirō Watanabe can rejoice because we're getting closer to the premiere of the anime series Lazarus. A new trailer for this upcoming series dropped worldwide and it is stunning. First of all, the animation truly fulfills the style of Shinichirō Watanabe, and it has a strong resemblance with the legendary series Cowboy Bebop. The artwork and style of drawing truly elevate this series and give it a 'noir' style that we rarely see these days. Of course, we can expect iconic music and atmosphere that truly emphasizes the futuristic setting of the series, if we judge the music played in the trailer. The quality of the trailer isn't surprising due to the animation studio behind the project, a very well-known animation studio, MAPPA.

MAPPA is a Japanese animation studio behind very notable works like Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, and Yuri!!! On Ice and many others, and it seems this project will be another triumph.

Lazarus Will Debut Its First Episode Very Soon

The Lazarus series will have its debut on Adult Swim's Toonami program on April 5 at 12:00 EDT. The episodes will be streamed a day after on the Max streaming platform that will be available worldwide. Another cool fact about this show is the fact that according to the Anime News Network website, the Senior vice president and head of anime and action series at Adult Swim Jason DeMarco confirmed that Shinichirō Watanabe directed every single episode.

Nevertheless, the Spring of 2025 will be filled with great content for anime fans. 

What Is Lazarus about?

The story of Lazarus is set in the utopian year of 2052. Dr. Skinner discovered a miracle drug that was later confirmed that if ingested, people are going to die. A special task force tries to stop Skinner and find an antidote that is symbolically called 'Lazarus.' Cool premise and combining that with the style of animation that we saw in the trailer, Watanabe could truly release something special for us after legendary series that is Cowboy Bebop.
