New Hope for Chihiro: Key Revelations in Kagurabachi Chapter 61
Share
Takeru Hokazono's Kagurabachi gave us another chapter of the hit manga series, and it is incredibly interesting. In the newest chapter, 61, titled 'Night Battle,' we see Chihiro involved in new dynamics, funny banter, and a crucial piece of information that will potentially give him the advantage over his new enemy, Samura. Another very interesting chapter that will prove to be important for the epic battle that awaits us.
Chihiro Has a New Crew
In the previous chapter, we saw Chihiro recovering from his almost fatal fight against Samura, who was revealed to be a new obstacle on our hero's journey for revenge. What is even more interesting is that despite literally dying by the hands of a Sword Bearer, Chihiro gained new allies in the Masumi Ninja Clan. In the newest chapter, Chihiro is seen having lunch with the Masumi members, and the whole interaction is absolutely hilarious.
They are so protective and willing to help Chihiro; they're even feeding him, so our own Sword Bearer doesn't strain too much. Nevertheless, the group is discussing their plans for Samura, but not before questioning what really happened to Uruha—is he really dead? However, the leader of the Masumi Clan still tells Chihiro not to get his hopes up. It's unbelievable how much Chihiro cares about his allies, and how through his care for Uruha's well-being, he's showcasing protectiveness of his allies.
A Shocking Revelation Gives Chihiro a Potential Leverage Against the Enemy
After a brief talk about Uruha, the leader of the Masumi Clan starts analyzing the situation between Kamunabi, Samura, and the Hishaku group. Namely, the three-way deadlock that is happening between three sides, and it seems that Chihiro and his allies are in the middle of it. The crew confirms that Hishaku went into hiding, and it's difficult to track them, but they express optimism they could track Samura through his use of spiritual energy—specifically, through his use of Tobimune, with which he's using abilities like 'Owl' and 'Crow.'
Still, the Masumi clan members warn Chihiro that if he draws Enten, Samura might try to kill him on the spot, confirming that Samura is still incredibly powerful for them to fight him any time they want. The whole battle between three factions is extremely complicated, with the Masumi Clan being Kamunabi's best chance against Hishaku, which is the same case for Samura, but the man is also against Kamunabi and Chihiro's path for revenge—they need to thread carefully and find Samura's weak spot and use the situation to their advantage. Of course, this leads to the biggest revelation of the chapter—Samura has a daughter, which is his weakness.

Hishaku Doesn't Sleep
Masumi Clan leader continues to say that the supposed dead daughter is actually alive and that Samura faked her death to protect her from himself. Samura considers 'death' as distancing himself from his loved ones, trying to protect them from his woes, just like he did with Chihiro—he temporarily killed him to stop his path of revenge. The Masumi Clan is one of the rare people who actually know that Samura's daughter is alive, because they were part of that mission. Three years ago, the Kamunabi group put Sword Bearer's families in heavy surveillance and protection, and Samura didn't like how that predicament reflected on his daughter. He made sure to fake his daughter's death and give her a fake identity to save her from himself, of course, not before erasing her memories of himself. The spell Samura cast on his daughter is so strong that even if she met him, she would never recognize her father.
Masumi Clan leader ends the discussion by telling his teammates that taking Samura's daughter into custody would be a perfect situation for them, especially Chihiro, who's ready to go on another mission. Meanwhile in Kyoto, the members of Hishaku, specifically Kuguri, are venturing through the store. One of the members warns Kuguri not to carry an enchanted sword in the open, and Yura sends his message: 'It's almost time.'
Hishaku proves once again that they are onto everything, which confirms that they know about Samura's daughter and her situation.
Conclusion: New Revelation Pushes Chihiro Closer to Samura
While Hishaku members try to find Samura's daughter, the last manga panel presents us with Samura's 'Owl' eye, which observes swordsmen's daughter. The last few chapters are really preparing us for the ultimate fight of this story arc, which will include multiple groups, each with different agendas. It's incredible how Hokazono handles four different factions, balancing peace, revenge, control, and, most importantly, love, proving once again that Kagurabachi is indeed about love—among other things.
