Ranking Best Anime Dads That Will Make You Feel Warm
Dora NaletilićShare
Parents are the ones that define us, even the most badass anime characters ever. Especially fathers, who can be either good or bad influences on the main protagonists and responsible for their children's future in more ways than one. This is a ranking of the best anime dads that emotionally moved us to the core and impacted us in a fundamental way.
Maes Hughes: A Delightful Father Who Left Too Soon
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was such an emotional rollercoaster for a viewer that only few can reach that level. Besides the incredible journey of the Elric brothers, we meet amazing side characters that are incredibly relatable and good enough to carry the storyline of the series. One of them was Maes Hughes, Amestrian State Military officer, and the man who loved his family so much. His wife and daughter were the banes of his existence, and he showcased it in all the best ways. Hence why, when we lost him, it was so much more painful. An amazing dad that we lost too soon.
Loid Forger: For a Spy, Amazing Father
Spy x Family is an incredibly entertaining series that balances serious and fun elements in a very skillful way, including the characters themselves. Despite being an undercover spy, needing to find a 'fake' family to do his mission efficiently, Loid truly cares for his 'fake' wife and daughter. His daughter Anya is necessary for his mission, but he protects her and fulfills all of her wishes to make her happy, making him a great father.
Joseph Joestar: Loves His Daugter More Than Anything
Joseph had his faults (like cheating on his partner) but proved to be a great father and grandfather that only few can say in the anime universe. When he learns his daughter is in trouble, Joseph goes on a dangerous journey to find a cure for his beloved Holly, for whom he would go to hells. Joseph was problematic but has walked through the steps to become a much better man.
Minato Namikaze: Gave His Life for His Son
Minato never had the luxury to actually be with his son, due to him dying in the fight against the Nine-Tails, but he made sure that his son eventually gets to be happy. Now, one could argue that sealing a Kyuubi into Naruto wasn't a 'very fatherly move,' but in the end, it paid off since Naruto used his charm and kindness to become friends with Kurama and eventually save the Ninja World together. Both Minato and Kushina were great parents, even for a very short time.

Soichiro Yagami: Believed His Son Until the End
A good father is one that supports their children no matter what, and Soichiro Yagami was definitely that kind of parent. The Death Note series is known for being quite good at balancing morality and ethics, and Soichiro's son, Light, is an epitome of that trope. Soichiro was a police officer who believed in justice and supported his son through everything, in spite of clear-cut accusations against his son.
Isshin Kurosaki: Adaptable and Loveable Father
Tough love is very common in anime, especially shōnen, where we see fathers being a bit harsh on their children to prepare them for the harsh world full of violence. Isshin is both caringly soft and tough, making him a perfectly balanced parental figure for his children. Isshin is a soldier who fondly remembers his late wife and loves his daughter and son with all his heart.
Naruto Uzumaki: Takes After His Father
After being without one for all his life, Naruto became an ultimate dad to his children. Besides being a good husband to his wife Hinata, Naruto loves his kids more than anything. He is quite a bit absent after becoming a Seventh Hokage, but in his words, Konohagakure is his children as well. His devotion to his village and his family is unmatched, making him the best example of a great anime father.
