Ranking Most Impactful Supporting Characters in Kagurabachi

Dora Naletilić

As fans of manga and anime, every year we relive at least one end of a great series, and it seems that the shōnen genre will lose some of the greatest pieces of fiction Japan ever produced—like One Piece. However, with the popularity of Kagurabachi, shōnen fans don't have to fear bad content in the next years. Our protagonist Chihiro became one of the staples of modern shōnen manga, and his journey was elevated with cool side characters, good and bad.

Char Kyonagi: Little Girl That Showed Chihiro's Good Side

At the beginning of Chihiro's story, we met Char Kyonagi, a homeless orphan that strolls through the streets of Tokyo, looking for food. We later learn that she was a major target of Chihiro's foe, Genichi Sojo, who wanted to use Char's clan powers for himself. After initial reluctance, Char became a major character in Chihiro's life, a little girl who showcased Chihiro's mercy and kindness he hid from others.

Kunishige Rokuhira: Father That Started It All

Kunishige is Chihiro's late father, whose skills as a swordsmith were proved to be crucial in Japan's win in the Seitei War. His Enchanted Blades were a tipping point of a major conflict, but despite being a war hero, Kunishige seemed like a good father to his son. For very little that we saw him, Kunishige seemed silly and endearing in comparison to his son Chihiro, making his death even more impactful to the overall Kagurabachi plot. His death is what started it all.

Togo Shiba: Chihiro's Second Father

If you see Chihiro going somewhere, Shiba is always the one who has his back. Another war hero and Kunishige's close friend, Shiba is a former Kamunabi agent who used his skills to bring peace to Japanese citizens. After his friend's death, Shiba became Chihiro's right hand and always provided him with much-needed support in his fight against Hishaku sorcerers. Shiba is probably the most important character in Chihiro's story.

Hakuri Sazanami: Chihiro's Closest Friend

One of the most important allies in Chihiro's life is definitely Hakuri Sazanami, a sorcerer with huge potential whose initial meeting with Chihiro sparked an immediate bond between the two teenagers. Since the beginning, Chihiro considered Hakuri as one of his close friends and allies who would prove to be important in his mission, even going out of his way to save his life—the favor was returned many times. Hakuri is a major character in Chihiro's life, that's for sure.

Seiichi Samura: Reluctant Villain With Tragic Backstory

One of the sword bearers, Seiichi Samura, became the major character in Kagurabachi (and Chihiro's life) in the recent story 'Sword Bearer Arc.' At first an ally trying to help Chihiro, Samura betrayed the teenager and went out of his way to destroy all Enchanted Blades. Samura taught Chihiro how to fight with a sword and was the boy's idol, but his guilt and grief were stronger, making him the reluctant villain and one of the coolest characters in the series.

Hiyuki Kagari: An Insane Foe

Finally, we have Hiyuki Kagari, by far the strongest agent of Kamunabi, who was initially introduced as Chihiro's foe in the series. She immediately showcased her eccentric attitude that 'rubbed' many people the wrong way, but her craziness proved to be important for Chihiro and his fight against Hishaku sorcerers. Who knows? Maybe she becomes Chihiro's love interest.
