Dora NaletilićShare
Sakamoto Days graced us with a new episode currently airing on Netflix, and it is action-packed as ever. The second episode, titled 'Son Hee and Bacho,' sees Shin learning the true bond between Sakamoto and his wife Aoi, former killers meeting a young Chinese woman, Lu Shaotang, and a trio fighting the members of the Triad family. A very action-packed episode indeed.
Sakamoto's Way of Life
We predicted the escalation of Sakamoto Days story to come quite quickly in anime, and boy, it did. After Shin joined as a worker at Taro Sakamoto's grocery store, the younger former assassin threw himself into work, which he conducted quite efficiently. Interestingly enough, this quickly leads to Aoi, Sakamoto's wife, questioning if her husband went back to killing, which she absolutely despises—she vowed to divorce him if he continues killing people. This threat makes Sakamoto afraid and queasy, thinking his wife is going to leave him. Shin finds that interesting and questions Sakamoto and Aoi's deal.
Which Sakamoto ignores, and the murderous duo go to the Niikita Chinatown to buy some delicious pork buns because in the end, Sakamoto likes his food and family the most.

Meet Lu Shaotang
While they're shopping at Niikita Chinatown for pork buns, suddenly a young woman falls onto Sakamoto while running away from strange men. Of course, Sakamoto mourns his ruined pork buns while Shin questions a strange woman, who introduces herself as Lu Shaotang. The girl attacks the armed men and showcases her proficiency in tai chi, a Chinese martial art, which in the end fails when she finds herself in a very dangerous situation.
Sakamoto and Shin save the day and run away with the mysterious girl from the Triads. We learn a bit about Lu—her parents were part of the Triad family who were slaughtered by the opposing gang, leaving her with the mysterious family key. Sakamoto feels sorry for the girl and decides to take her in.
Fight With Triads and a Pair of Very Dangerous Twins
We learn that the opposing Triads want Lu's key, and the leader hires a pair of dangerous twins called Son Hee and Bancho, who are known as mercenaries who sever their opponent's heads and use them for fun—mostly for drawing. Despite their threat, Sakamoto isn't fazed at all; he simply kicks the twins backsides. Lu questions Sakamoto and why he wants to protect her, and Shin sees the memory going inside Sakamoto's head.
Sakamoto promised his future wife, Aoi, he'll stop killing after the woman tested the limits of how far the hitman would go. He saves the love of his life from imminent death and promises her he won't kill anymore and he will instead save people. Shin is emotional and praises his idol and promises Sakamoto he will respect the 'no kill rule. The trio delivers the beaten twins to the leader of the opposing Triad, and Lu gets the satisfaction of her life beating the old man to a pulp. Lu eventually goes and uses her family's key, revealing a major wealth. Sakamoto offers Lu to work at his store and follow his family's rule—no killing. In the post-credit scene, we see the leaders of the underworld dropping a major bounty on Shin's and Sakamoto's 'head' that is estimated at over a billion yens.
Conclusion: Another Person Starts Working at Sakamoto's
Sakamoto Days continued with its second episode on Netflix, and it is … okay? The animation problem persists in some moments, especially during the action scenes, where manga absolutely shines. Moreover, the animation feels a bit outdated, with some mannerisms of the characters, and as a whole package, anime feels average to a little bit above average quality. For example, Dandadan anime is so much better as a final product than Sakamoto Days, but fans will definitely stick with this series. The plot is solid, and it feels like we're going to indulge in the main story immediately, with serious and quite more 'bloody' themes. The next episode will be aired on the 25th of January.
