By many, one of the best manga series of all time, One Piece attracted millions of fans around the world and became the foundation of the shōnen genre. However, with every new weekly release, there are leakers that update the most eager fans of the manga with spoilers, making the lives of the publishers much harder. The publishers have been trying to shut down the leakers for years, and it seems that this new U.S. subpoena filing will potentially be the end of manga leaks for Western fans.

New U.S. Subpoena by Shonen Jump Demands the Revelation of U.S. One Piece Leakers

One Piece has been by far the most popular shōnen manga series in the world, especially in the Western Hemisphere, where millions of fans eagerly await the new weekly update. The popularity led to some people with early access to the new manga content 'leaking' spoilers to Western fans, creating headaches for the publishers, in this case Weekly Shonen Jump's Shueisha. The publisher has been fighting 'leaks' for years, even going to U.S. court to expose the guilty and stop this problem.

According to CBR, an X user, AsarathaHS, shared that a new subpoena request has been filed against Elon Musk's social media platform on behalf of the publishing giant Shueisha. The request was filled, claiming that the company's rights have been violated by the infringing accounts, 'spoilerplus' and 'mangaraw_jp.' The subpoena mostly contains the proof of the leaks of the popular manga series, One Piece, with other series' affected by the leaks like Kagurabachi, Sakamoto Days, and Chainsaw Man.

The social media platform X, formerly Twitter, was informed of the infringing accounts through a DMCA notice in May of 2024 but will provide account details following a court order or a subpoena.

Series Synopsis and Overview

The hit series follows the story of the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, who are exploring the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as 'One Piece.' If one pirate acquires this treasure, they will become the next King of Pirates. By far the most popular shōnen manga series of all time, One Piece brings adventure, silliness, and emotional moments through the journey of Luffy, making him one of the most recognizable manga characters of all time. One Piece is written and illustrated by unbreakable Eiichiro Oda, who maintained an unimaginable height of quality content for more than two decades, making the series 'a must-read' manga for any fan of the shōnen genre.

Conclusion

Manga spoilers and 'leaks' have been a frequent part of the industry since the development of social media. Fans from all over the world are eager to read their favorite series as soon as they can, and people on another side of the world have the opportunity to do just that. Unfortunately for publishers, anyone with early access to new manga chapters will leak something in one way or another. However, it seems that these same publishers are on a hunt for pirate manga websites that adopt new updates from official channels and post them on their platforms for fans to read for free. Maybe some people won't like this development, but breaking DMCA and copyright infringement is not something one should play with, because, as we've seen with this news, one could get a massive lawsuit on their plate.
