Singularity Vs. Destiny in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16
Share
The newest Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 16, titled ‘Singularity of Fate,’ explores many interesting concepts like time manipulation, the idea of destiny and, sometimes the weakest point of Masashi Kishimoto’s storytelling, interrelationships between his characters. The beginning of the ‘Post-Boruto’s Return Arc’ sets up fundamentals before the epic battle with the new enemies - shinjus.
The Concept of Time Through Koji’s Point of View
In the earlier chapters, we learned that Koji has awakened new ability, the one that can see future events. In chapter 16, the flashback scene between Boruto and Koji explains the true motivation of the young Uzumaki, whose mission revolves around saving his Master Sasuke from the Divine Tree and ultimately killing the Ten-Tailed Beast. The ‘Doctor Strange-like’ power that Koji awakened, gives him the ability to manipulate time and help Boruto save the world - they are a singularity of destiny, heretics that destabilize the future. During that flashback, Boruto learned another ability, the Flying Thunder God Technique - like his grandfather, Minato.
Romantic Undertones and the Possibility of a Love Triangle
Boruto’s return to Konoha in the chapter 15 heavily resonated with the citizens of the village, especially his former teammates, Sarada Uchiha and Sumire Kakei. The emotional reaction and momentous physical affection by Uchiha heir deeply hurt Sumire, who we know has romantic feelings for Boruto. The newest chapter sees Sumire confronting Sarada for showing those feelings to Boruto so vividly, despite denying it every time when she’s faced with them. We are set up for another 'love triangle' and hopefully it's better handled by Kishimoto's this time around.
The Omniscient Narrator in Eida
The political scene in Konoha is getting more tense and complicated as the Lord Eight tries his best to understand what is really going on with new enemies in shinjus. With the help of Eida, the true omniscient character in Boruto Universe, Shikamaru realizes that shinjus attacked their allies in the Sand Village. With Shinki’s imprisonment, the new shinju is born, the new enemy named Ryu. Koji steps up once again and tells Shikamaru to send Konohamaru, Sarada and Mitsuki to the Land of the Wind to help Sunagakure and save Gaara and his family.
Conclusion: The Unwilling Alliance Will Be Crucial in Another War
The ‘Singularity of Fate’ sets yet another enemy of Konoha Village and all Ninja World, in shinjus. Although Eida seems passive at times, her character proves to be incredibly important for Konoha and narrative aspects for readers, with her omniscient knowledge of everything. She provides us with needed explanations for ever complex plot and proves to be an integral part of the unsure future of Ninja World. Koji set himself as the 'seer' of Boruto Universe and the driving force of the this Arc's story, which makes him infinitely more cooler character. The dynamic between Kawaki and Boruto and their reluctant alliance against the threat of shinjus and their Divine Trees will prove important for the future of Konoha and whole Ninja World, which we'll already witness on 20th of December with the new Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga chapter.
