The Arrival of Jiji: Shifting Dynamics in the Latest Dandadan Episode

Jiji's arrival in the newest episode of Dandadan 'threw a wrench' in the group's dynamic. In the newest episode 11, titled 'First Love,' Jiji explains why he reunited with his childhood friend, Seiko sends Momo on a new mission, and Okarun's acting more strangely than usual. This is another episode that showcases the craziness of the anime, but with a good amount of fun and serious elements.

New Character Arrives and Momo's More Frantic Than Usual

Momo is in the surprise of her life when she opens the door and her childhood friend and first love is on her doorstep. After questioning what he's doing at her home, Seiko confirms that Jiji will now live with her and Momo since his parents are both in the hospital. Aira is chaotic as ever, vowing to beat Momo after her help with the mission ends, while Okarun is acting strangely, hinting that he's actually jealous. On the other hand, Jiji is an outgoing teenager who is popular with girls and has enormous chaotic energy that can be felt all over the room.

After everyone gets home, during the after-dinner cleanup, Jiji tells Momo that the reason he's there is because he started seeing ghosts at his house and that his parents suffered consequences of it. Seiko took him in to help him but put Momo in charge, secretly wanting the girl to develop her powers. The next day, Jiji arrives at Momo's class, confirming he has transferred, and every girl in the room is taken with him, even thinking he's in a relationship with Momo.

Okarun Learns the Definition of Jealousy

While the chaos in Momo's class continues, in the other classroom, Okarun learns the definition of jealousy, thinking that now that Momo has Jiji, she'll stop being kind to him and lose interest in the occult. To stop himself from thinking about Momo's potential rejection, Okarun decides to exercise and to be as strong as Jiji. Momo interrupts Okarun, saying she's looking out for him to stop him from doing anything funny. Of course, the boy is happy until Jiji comes along and brings Momo a special yogurt she always liked when they were children. This is where Okarun starts to leave, thinking that he has to go and leave Momo with Jiji without him—until a strange half-man starts running towards them.

Okarun Saves the Day

The chaos ensues, and the strange puppet-like running man goes through Momo, Jiji, and Okarun, trying to run as fast as he can. However, Momo spots one of the golden balls on the puppet and decides to use her powers and try to hold him down. Jiji is still in his head, trying to help Momo by holding on to her, and Okarun decides to stop the strange puppet and save Momo and Jiji by using his power and transformation.

After wreaking havoc across the city, during the chaos, Momo manages to take Puppet's heart and use it to find him at the junkyard. And then in the true Dandadan style, we see why the puppet was so passionate about his running. His name is Taro, and he was looking for his significant other, Hana (another puppet), to be with her. The epic showcase of their love, with the beautiful sundown and the audience, internally Okarun realizes that he can relate to Taro, because Momo changed his life for the better as well.

Conclusion: The Gang is Set to Go to the Cursed House

Dandadan continues to be a chaotic, lovely anime that mixes emotional and serious elements so well. Jiji will surely become a great part of Momo and Okarun's group and bring that incredibly chaotic energy dynamic in full force. It was really lovely seeing Okarun acknowledging the importance of Momo in his life, but also sad thinking that she will ever leave him or ignore him. Nevertheless, the preview of the episode is exciting because we will see the team with Jiji in action, trying to see what is going on with the cursed house Jiji was talking about.
