The Battle of Sword Masters Begins in Kagurabachi Chapter 74

Takeru Hokazono is simply unbelievable. Chapter 74 of Kagurabachi, titled simply 'Dawn,' sees more clarification regarding Kunishige's death, Iori finally awakening her memories, and the prologue of a three-way fight between sword bearers. Simply an incredible piece of art that is chapter 74, with which Hokazono confirmed his prowess as an artist and, most importantly, storytelling.

Samura Was Not Involved In Kunishige's Death

In the previous chapter, we learned more about Samura family life and how one rumour destroyed the bond between father and daughter. The Hishaku leader, Yura, somehow knows the real truth behind Seitei War and uses that to have leverage over Samura and his ultimate mission. Finally, the ending of the last chapter sees the death of Kunishige Rokuhira.

This chapter starts immediately after the previous one where we learn that the Kamunabi group instantly reported to Samura about the death of Kunishige Rokuhira. Before he can even respond fully, Yura—the leader of the mysterious group Hishaku—appears at his door. The dead escorts outside already tell Samura everything he needs to know. Yura confirms his group killed Kunishige and had previously taken out Misaki, another former Enchanted Blade user. His message is clear: join us, or die.

Yura drops bombshells—he knows the truth about the Seitei War, he's aware of the fragility of the seal maintaining balance, and he plans to execute the Sword Saint himself to prevent the The Malediction. While Samura initially blames Hishaku for disturbing the Shinuchi’s seal and triggering the malediction, Yura claims they’re merely responding to a danger that's already spiraling out of control. His proof? The blooming of malevolent spirit flowers, which signify the Sword Saint’s destructive will still lingers. Faced with the overwhelming truth and limited options, Samura starts to realize he may have no choice but to work with the enemy to fight a greater evil.

Iori Fully Unlocks Her Memories and  Seiichi Samura Joins the Fight

Elsewhere, Iori shows her growth in full force. Surrounded by attackers, she handles herself with expert swordsmanship, even though she’s never wielded a real blade before. She confirms to Chihiro that her training came from Samura, and reflects on her deep desire to become stronger—not just for herself, but in hopes of one day reconnecting with her father. Chihiro believes Samura remembers Iori but is being held back by greater responsibilities. As the skies begin to clear, Chihiro and Hiruhiko draw their blades—Enten and Kumeyuri—ready for the next fight.

Then, in a dramatic and powerful close, Samura descends from the sky with black wings, wielding his blade Tobiume. It’s a moment that signals a turning point—not just for the battle, but for the future of every character involved.

Conclusion: Setting the Stage for a Legendary Showdown

Takeru Hokazono continues to prove his storytelling brilliance, blending emotional depth with high-stakes action. The mystery around Yura and his motives keeps the tension on the high, while the bond between Iori and Samura adds heartfelt weight to the unfolding conflict. With Samura, Chihiro, and Hiruhiko all on the field, the potential for an epic clash is building fast. The swordplay, lore, and emotional threads are converging, and everything points to a massive showdown ahead.

Kagurabachi is no longer just a revenge tale—it’s evolving into something bigger, and Chapter 74 makes it clear: the best is yet to come.
