What Is Koji's Real Endgame in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?
Dora NaletilićShare
In the ever-twisting world of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, one character who's remained as mysterious as he is powerful is Koji Kashin. His sudden reappearance in the manga has raised a lot of questions—not just about where he stands in the current conflict, but also about his true intentions and connection to Boruto. Let’s break it down.
A Clone With a Purpose
To understand Koji’s motives, we have to go back to his origins. Koji isn’t just another shinobi—he’s actually a clone of Jiraiya, created by Amado as a backup plan to take down Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. When Jigen (Isshiki's vessel) shut down Amado’s plan to use cyborg Outers, Koji was brought in as an alternative. Although he acted as a loyal Inner member of Kara for a while, it was all an act. Koji was playing the long game, keeping his cover to ultimately eliminate Isshiki from within. He did some pretty questionable stuff to maintain that act, like letting children die while testing for Karma compatibility but in his mind, it was all for the greater good.
Despite his cold, calculated choices, Koji has shown that he follows the shinobi code, and that he still holds on to a sense of pride in being a tool for a bigger mission. He avoids unnecessary bloodshed and, even when he had the upper hand against Kakashi, he chose not to kill him.

Koji in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Now in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Koji is playing a very different role. After the time skip, it’s revealed that Koji is working alongside Boruto, but their relationship is far from simple. It's also revealed that Koji can foresee future. He’s not exactly a mentor, and definitely not a friend—he's Boruto's guide for protecting future.
He’s willing to sacrifice others to protect Boruto, even if Boruto himself doesn’t agree. When Konohamaru is at risk of being devoured by Matsuri, Koji stops Boruto from jumping into the battle, warning that every future where Boruto intervenes ends in his death. It’s a harsh truth, and one Boruto struggles to accept—but Koji doesn’t waver. He’s even warned Shikamaru not to let Himawari leave Konoha, since the powerful being Jura seems to be interested in her. Koji’s been in contact through his summoning toads, coordinating missions and keeping tabs on the looming threats from Ryū and Matsuri, the two Human God Trees. He’s clearly trying to keep things under control—but on his own terms.
A Guardian… or a Puppet Master?
The big question fans are asking: Is Koji really trying to help Boruto? Or does he have his own hidden agenda? On the surface, it seems like Koji’s protecting Boruto—warning him of danger, trying to control the chaos, and even applauding Shikamaru for trusting him. But at the same time, he’s extremely secretive, refuses to answer questions, and seems ready to sacrifice others if it means keeping Boruto alive.
It’s possible that Koji doesn’t just see Boruto as a person, but rather as a key to a bigger plan—maybe something to do with his Karma mark, or even the Otsutsuki threat itself. And while he might not be evil, he’s definitely operating in that morally gray area.
Conclusion: Koji Has a Plan ... And He Will Follow It
Koji Kashin is one of the most intriguing characters in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. As a clone of Jiraiya, he carries many similarities with the Toad Master—he is Boruto's guide and at times a mentor. But he’s not just a copy—he’s his own person, shaped by cold strategy and hard decisions.
Whether he’s truly an ally to Boruto, or simply using him to achieve a larger goal, remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear: Koji is a key player in the fight against the God Trees, and possibly the only person who understands just how bad things could get. For now, he’s in Boruto’s corner… but how long that will last is anyone’s guess.
