The Truth About Kagurabachi: Shedding Light on Its Real Villain and Sword Masters
Dora NaletilićShare
Last week Kagurabachi served us with one of the most important reveals in the series. We finally found out what really happened during the Seitei War, which heavily influenced the history of Japan and who was really behind the genocide of a whole nation. A berserk Sword Master, the most powerful enchanted blade created by Kunishige Rokuhira and more, all those factors heavily influenced the current conflict of the incredible series that is Kagurabachi.
Sword Master That Destroyed a Whole Nation
Remember the high stakes we talked about during the length of the 'Sword Bearer' story arc? Well, it seems that the previous chapter was the catalyst to the Kagurabachi story. During the whole flashback of Seiichi Samura and his family, we learned that the leader of Hishaku, Yura, knew the real truth of what happened during the Seitei War. As we knew from before, Kunishige Rokuhira created six enchanted blades to steer the odds of the war, entrusting powerful weapons to six sword masters that he trusted. The sword bearers were so powerful that the opposing nation capitulated and proposed to sign a peace treaty that will stop the conflict. However, one of the Sword Masters, the one who wielded a powerful Shinuchi, went berserk and corrupted his blade, leading to the deaths of two hundred thousand people, leading to the massacre that the government of Japan hid from their public.
The Sword Master was hidden from the public, and the rest of the Sword Bearers hid the truth from everyone, but it feels like that secret heavily weighed on their consciousnesses. Especially on Samura, who we now know as the one who wants to prevent certain disaster from happening. Remember Yura? Well, he was the one who told Samura about the prophecy, that the Malediction will repeat itself—the massacre will happen again.
The Strongest Enchanted Blade Ever
One of the biggest factors in why the Malediction happened is because of the eternal bond between the Sword Master and the enchanted blade Shinuchi. When the sword bearer went insane and berserk, the sword through the bond adopted the same feelings as its wielder, becoming full of bloodlust and vast power, leading to the massacre of the whole nation.
Shinuchi is unique in many aspects, especially when it comes to his sword bearer—according to the leader of Kamunabi, if the Sword Master in the nucleus of the eternal bond dies, every other Sword Master will die with him. Kunishige Rokuhira made sure if the Sword Master with Shinuchi dies, the other five die as well. This is what makes this whole situation even more severe and why Samura went on his ultimate mission to destroy the enchanted blades and their sword bearers.

Role of Kunishige Rokuhira
The Malediction, enchanted blades, Hishaku… every single conflict we're currently witnessing in Kagurabachi tracks back to the Seitei War and consequently, Chihiro's father, Kunishige. An incredibly talented blacksmith who steered the war in Japan's favor because he used the rare material of Shokoku, datenseki, and created the most powerful weapons known to people.
Kunishige is the catalyst to everything and simply needs to be considered as one of the biggest villains of the whole story. Even though he didn't feel like he was doing a bad thing by creating swords that can destroy whole nations, Kunshige's actions need to be held accountable, especially since his son is now carrying a massive burden.
Conclusion: Chihiro's Enten as a Key to Save the World
Interestingly enough, Kunishige was very much aware of what he created after the happenings of the Seitei War—he created another sword that no one knew about and that will prove to be a counter to the monster weapon that is Shinuchi.
Enten is an enchanted sword that is wielded by Chihiro, and it mostly holds defensive powers, which are good against more aggressive swords like we saw in the previous chapters of the Kagurabachi. Chihiro did learn Iai White Purity Style from Samura, which gives him another upper hand against the powerful enemies. When this fight will occur in the series, we don't know, but it's for sure setting up a fight between Chihiro and the insane and powerful Sword Master that wields a powerful blade that is Shinuchi. Takeru Hokazono once again proves that he can transform solid foundations into incredible stories, and the current story arc is just that—incredibly good.
