Thin Line of Love and Pain in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 20
Dora NaletilićShare
The monthly upgrade of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is here, and it is really exciting. Chapter 20, titled 'Because of Love,' sees Team 7 and the Suna duo continuing their fight against Ryū, and Konohamaru finally getting vindicated as the character. Moreover, the fight between Ryū and Team 7 just got better due to Sarada Uchiha finally using her Mangekyō Sharingan, which is unique.
Konohamaru and the Rest of the Team 7 Are Fighting For Their Lives
In the previous chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Ryū got an upper hand over Team 7 and the Suna duo of Yodo and Araya, while Konohamaru fumbled the whole plan due to him failing to keep his feelings in check. In this monthly upgrade, we see Konohamaru being in the middle of being devoured by angry Matsuri, who is experiencing feelings from her 'original,' Moegi. Matsuri wants to devour Konohamaru due to his rejection, but the leader of Team 7 finally remembered what Shikamaru told him about shinjus—they are still 'cubs' and can be easily manipulated. Konohamaru tries to manipulate Matsuri with his 'sweet talking,' but the shinju insists on killing him—she feels conflicted due to her instincts desiring him and warning her of his danger at the same time.
On the other side of the battlefield, Mitsuki and Araya are in iron sand clutches of Ryū, who is 'feeling' himself with his arrogant speech and threats towards the shinobi. The powerful shinju wants the intel about Boruto. Araya pleads with Yodo and Sarada to leave them and run away. Yodo asks Sarada to give up the intel about Boruto and actually recognizes why she won't do it—she realizes Sarada has feelings for the Uzumaki heir. Yodo actually tells Sarada she feels the same way about Shinki, for whom she would always have his back, just like the Uchiha heir would for Boruto. Yodo offers herself for the lives of others, negotiating her sensory powers to help Ryū find Boruto.

Konohamaru Uses 'Talk No Jutsu
Although he is near his death, Konohamaru actually manages to awaken feelings with Matsuri, who starts crying in the middle of the fight. Apparently, the feelings within her are so complex that she cannot control her heartbreak as she's killing Konohamaru. The jonin uses that knowledge and starts the usual 'talk no jutsu' technique he learned from his mentor Naruto. Meanwhile, in the Shinju hideout, Jura suddenly starts crying as well—Shinjus are so interconnected that they can feel each other's strong feelings.
Konohamaru pleads with Matsuri to take his hands so she can feel better, and when she actually does it, he uses her to create two Giant Rasengans to attack her. The plan seems to work, but there is a catch—Hidari, the shinju created from Sasuke's chakra, reveals that because of love, Matsuri failed to devour Konohamaru, but the jonin hesitated to attack her immediately as well. The leader of Team 7 fails his mission.
Sarada Finally Uses Mangekyō Sharingan
On the other side of the battlefield, Ryū impales Yodo with his iron sand after feeling 'annoyed.' Everyone is shocked, and Yodo, feeling she's near death, tells Sarada something she needed to be told for a very long time. The Suna shinobi tells Sarada she is letting her talent and abilities 'rot' just because she's waiting to use them for greater good—she can use her powers to protect others and the ones she loves.
Of course, this is a reference to her love for Boruto but also her family and friends, which immediately causes her eyes to react—suddenly the iron sand is consumed by a 'black home,' which causes everyone to be freed from its clutches. When Mitsuki is released, he realizes his teammate awakened the long-awaited Mangekyō Sharingan.
Conclusion: Konohamaru Just Vindicated His Character
Slow pacing aside, this was a really interesting chapter. We got a glimpse into how shinjus work, how interconnected they are, similarly to trees and their branches. Jura felt Matsuri's feelings, which could be an interesting point for the future of the plot. Konohamaru finally got a win and then immediately remembered he is Naruto's disciple, failing to kill Matsuri when he could, which is very frustrating for his character, but it does 'track' if we look back into his character.
Finally, Sarada Uchiha finally used her Mangekyō Sharingan, which looks like it has insane power and uniqueness compared to Sasuke and Itachi. It looks like her ability is a mix of Kamui and Black Hole jutsus, but we won't know more until the next chapter. Hopefully, Kishimoto creates something unique and interesting for her character, because she needs it desperately. Until next month!
