Hype Is Real With The Announcement of Kagurabachi Anime Series

With every announcement surrounding a popular shōnen manga series, people immediately start to 'hype' up the project. Now, some fans resent that notion due to people overestimating the quality of the finished product and people being willing to compare their favorite anime series with something that didn't even see the light of day. However, the hype surrounding Kagurabachi is very real and warranted, due to its manga selling numbers that only One Piece can match.

Kagurabachi's Success Is Not a Myth

It seems that Kagurabachi's humble beginnings, which were mostly surrounded by memes, shocked some fans, since Takeru Hokazono's series is getting constant praise from the industry. The likes of Masashi Kishimoto of Naruto and Kōhei Horikoshi of My Hero Academia have already praised Hokazono and his work, and it seems that the series is getting rewarded every month for its quality and popularity.

The recent nomination at the prestigious 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards only confirmed the success of Kagurabachi. It's also worth mentioning that Kagurabachi volume sales and popularity can only be matched by Shonen Weekly Jump's most popular manga title of all time, One Piece. The success of Kagurabachi is far from being a myth, and numbers and accolades only confirm the series' worth.

Anime Announcement Started the Hype

Anime announcements occurred at the end of 2024, and since then, fans have been speculating which studio will be in charge of adapting this incredibly popular series. The CygamesPictures will work on the Kagurabachi anime series, as it was confirmed few weeks ago. The pick of the animation studio surprised anime fans due to Shueisha's habit of picking their usual studios like MAPPA and Pierrot.

CygamesPictures did previous work on multiple projects—Princess Connect! Re:Dive, Brave Bang Braver! and Blade Runner Black Out 2022. Moreover, it seems that besides Kagurabachi, the studio has more notable works scheduled during this year—two very successful manga series, Apocalypse Hotel and The Summer Hikaru Died.

Their style of animation looks very promising due to the design of the action scenes and colorful visuals, which could serve as an amazing foundation for Kagurabachi.

Comparisons to Other Popular Anime

People often become very attached to their favorite shows, and anime is very 'guilty' of that trend. Fandoms, community hubs, and other forums love to discuss if the success of certain series' is warranted or not and if it will die down after the initial hype. People in the industry, mostly bloggers and journalists, started comparing the potential of the Kagurabachi anime series to other current popular anime titles. Of course, Solo Leveling is already being part of the discussions all over the internet, and some fans are too defensive about the topic.

Solo Leveling, after initial concerns about the animation, is certainly one of the current most popular anime series. The quality of the anime certainly got better, and the whole project truly jumps out of the usual shōnen series we knew and loved during the heights of Naruto and Bleach. The whole project feels like a breath of fresh air, and it seems that the traditional atmosphere of Kagurabachi led some fans to be dismissive of the project.

Conclusion: The Hype Is Warranted

Now, Kagurabachi is currently in an incredible spot, due to its enormous popularity and solid quality of content, and it will certainly continue to be this way, as Hokazono serves us another volume full of solid storylines, cinematic atmosphere, and comprehensive characters led by the main protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira. The hype is certainly warranted… for now, especially after seeing the studio behind this upcoming anime adaptation and the potential this anime series could reach.

Hopefully, we don't get another Sakamoto Days or Blue Lock drama surrounding the quality of animation, and Kagurabachi fulfills the potential it set up for itself since the debut manga volume—it could transform the anime landscape we knew in the last few years.
