Kagurabachi Chapter 70: Chihiro Masters a Legendary Skill

Kagurabachi Chapter 70: Chihiro Masters a Legendary Skill

Dora Naletilić

The newest chapter of Kagurabachi just dropped and it is, as people like to say, 'an absolute cinema'. Chapter 70, titled 'Iai White Purity Style' sees Chihiro showcasing his skill against the formidable fighter in Hiruhiko, while also mastering one of the legendary ones that very few people mastered.

Chihiro and Hiruhiko Continue Their Fight

In the previous chapter of Kagurabachi, we saw Hirohiko and Chihiro fighting in the hotel and Iori unlocking her memories of her father, Seiichi Samura. In chapter 70, Chihiro and Hiruhiko continue their fight in the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel and it is filled with cinematic angles and explanations about the history of the Iai White Purity Style, a legendary skill that only few people mastered. Among them, of course, is Seiichi Samura, who showed Chihiro the foundation of the skill but the boy still hasn't fully mastered it.

While fighting, we learn about the Iai White Purity Style, which was originally invented by the legendary sword master Itsou Shirakai, who argued that the fastest fighters will match the strongest ones. Without getting into every single detail of the skill, the Iai White Purity Style is specific for its unique holding katana stance that makes the Sword Bearer the fastest warrior in the battle. The warrior needs to be able to rotate their wrist/blade for 180 degrees and then regrip the sword to strike the opponent. Chihiro's problem mastering this skill is due to his losing focus and then power before striking the opponent, which is why Ro explained to him that he needs to act like the sword is his extension of the body.

Iori Shows Chihiro the Way

This is why Samura is such a great swordsman because he mastered this unique style and because fighting and katana are 'part of him'. On the other side of the battlefield, Hiruhiko's skill is vastly different from Chihiro's and others, because he is wild and unpredictable. The member of the Hishaku group was a killer since he was a young boy and his unpredictable and wild fight style is what gives him an upper hand against his opponents.

Hiruhiko disengages and goes to the roof, while Chihiro starts to realize how to master the Iai White Purity Style. However, when he sees Iori fighting against dozens of assassins after awakening her memories, and coincidentally her powers, Chihiro finally realizes the natural feeling of the katana and the style that propels him to strike his opponent in Hiruhiko.

Chihiro finally mastered Iai White Purity Style, while Iori finally awakened as Seiichi Samura's daughter.

Conclusion: Iori Will Be Chihiro's Mentor

One of the coolest Kagurabachi chapters to date. Hokazono once again showcases his prowess in creating cinematic manga panels filled with metaphors and incredible lore that only enrich this amazing series. Chihiro finally masters the Iai White Purity Style, but only after he sees Iori fighting the assassins after she unlocks her memories. With memories, the seal locked out her swordsmanship skills, which is such an incredible ode to Samura and his relationship with Iori before everything happened. Once again incredible chapter that will most likely lead to Iori actually mentoring Chihiro in the future chapters - it is heavily hinted at in the last few chapters. Until next week!
